There was also as pristine Red Admiral , 4 juvenile Common Lizards and an adult that had recently lost the whole of its tail. I wish I knew what predates the species here.

14/9/09: Small Copper at last
At last! My favourite butterfly turned up today. Here's the dainty little Small Copper, on a Barnehurst allotment site, where one of its foodplants - Sheep's Sorrel - occurs in small amounts. Never very common, I only ever see a couple of these pretty insects in the area each year.
